This is not an accident. It is the result of a craft that takes years to develop and a philosophy that is rarely taught.<\/p>\n<h2>Preparation Is Invisible Presence<\/h2>\n<p>Great interviewers prepare exhaustively \u2014 but their preparation is designed to make them present, not performative. The goal of research is not to demonstrate knowledge. It is to earn enough trust that the subject can speak freely. When a subject senses that you already understand their work deeply, they stop explaining and start exploring.<\/p>\n<h2>The Best Questions Are Observations<\/h2>\n<p>The most productive interview questions are often not questions at all.
